Slater Mill is happy to announce that our largest fundraiser of the year is coming home.
The Autumn Auction will be held in the beautifully renovated space in the 2nd floor of Slater Mill. Resulting from a two year initiative, the 2nd floor of Slater Mill has been transformed into the Jencks Education Center, which opened in November of 2008. The innovative design also encompasses the Community Guild Studios, Rhode Island’s premier fiber arts center. Together, the Jencks Education Center and the Community Guild Studios reflect the importance of Slater Mill in Rhode Island’s rich history of fine crafts and arts.
Join Slater Mill supporters and enjoy a wonderful evening while helping the Mill reach its goal to raise funds for the Slater Mill Scholarship Program which allows all Pawtucket and Central Falls 4th graders to visit Slater Mill at no cost to them or their schools. A visit to Slater Mill is a key component to educating children about the Mill’s role as the birthplace of the Industrialization of America. Additionally, the Autumn Auction will help raise funds for Free For All Sundays, a monthly program designed to give young children and adults an opportunity to visit the Mill at no cost.
This year’s event will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Slater Mill in downtown Pawtucket. The evening will begin at 6:00 PM with hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, an opportunity to bid on silent auction items and preview the live auction items. The evening will then progress to a buffet catered by Fine Catering by Russell Morin and hosted by Tony Petrarca, Chief Meteorologist for WPRI-12 and Fox Providence, for the live auction.
Individual ticket price is $65 each, with a special rate of $500 for ten tickets for individuals who would like to gather a group together for a special evening out at this National Historic Landmark.
